Inneke23 & the lipstick painters - elephant crossing

The songs on this album have been written in places all over the globe; in Zagreb, Sesto Callende, The Mojave-desert and of course Antwerp, the city where Inneke23 lives and works. The album title points to crucial moments in Inneke23's life. Moments when important decisions had to be taken.
Moments when she always, one way or the other, was confronted with the image of an elephant. Songs as well as the arrangements make this an enormously varied album. It includes happy-go-lucky songs (the first track "Guitar Jesus", the poppy title track and the folksong "The Fairy Man"), aggressive songs, in which Inneke's punk spirit raises its head ("Hate Song", "Purple And Blue" and ".") and sad songs like the dreamy "Fairy Girl", the seemingly happy "It's Still Raining" (although the title says it all), the mysterious "Waiter Of Your Sleep" and the heart-breaking ballad "Trojan Horse".

The CD also includes two covers, Bob Dylan's "Oh Sister" re-named for the occasion "Oh Brother", and "I Envy The Wind" by Inneke's biggest source of inspiration, Lucinda Williams.
